About the artist

My Background is pretty complicated. I was born in Venezuela, then I moved back to Hong Kong with my family since I was two. I went to United Christian College, my high school, where I picked up my drawing and painting techniques. I then went to Hong Kong Adventist College to study my Grade 12 and my Freshman year and finally transfered to Winona State University in Minnesota.

I am also very into manga (comic or graphic novel in Japanese) and I always wanted to create my own story. I've been plotting story and designing characters since 1998. I met my fellow Skyees at skycomic dot com in 2002. In the same year, we formed our Doujinji (self-published comic books) group, Skies, one year later. Our very first Doujinji, Skies Zero, was published in December. I mainly write novel and draw my own illustrations, now I am starting to draw comic as well. My first novel was Called Kozukata Chronicles, it was a fantasy/Sci-fi, which is about a princess and her adventure tried to rescue her prince.

People may get confused who I am because I always use different pen names for different projects. For instant, Mokonamon is one of the most frequently used pseudonym when I was in High School. Mokona is actually a pen name of a Japanese graphic novel writer (Mokona Apapa) whom I really look up to. I admire her so much that I used to name myself after her. Now I go by Salmon Nugget which anagrams to my birth name, Samuel Ng Tong.

Pablo Picasso once said that, "All children are artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." I do believe everybody can be a decent artist if they are well trained, therefore, I learned how to draw since I was in grade school. I made my first computer graphic when I was in High school, and I felt in love with computer art ever since. I dream that one day I could make art on computer for living and that's why I chose graphic design as my Major.

My work is more like a mixture of classic and contemporary art. I really enjoy painting every detail like the paintings in the romantic peroid and I like the concept of morden art as well. Painting shouldn't be drawn on canvas only, with the help of computers, I can project my creativity beyond the boundary.

Pathetically, as a Muggle, I Love the Harry Potter Series, but just so you know , I don't like Harry much, I think he is just an you-know-what. I don't really discriminate music, just not totally into those heavy metal kind of Hardcore Rock. My Zen is loaded with 20GB of mp3s from Carpenters to Avril Lavigne to Jazz to Disney Tunes to William Hung to Josh Groban and Hayley Westenra. For movies, I like Epic, Comedy and Horror Movies. Food is the easiest one, I love all Good food, anything sweet and tasty will be fine for me. I do read a lot of comic books, my favourite Comic Writer(s) is CLAMP(well they are a group of 4 LOL), my afvourite Comics are Angelic Layer, Magic Knight Rayearth andCard Captor Sakura. Also I like the Animate version of Angelic Layer and Magic Knight Rayearth as well as Tsubasa Chronicles. My favourite day of the year except my birthday is Harroween, weird huh? :-]
